The Turnbull Government’s Stronger Communities Programme is driving improvements across the Forde region, with Beenleigh State High School receiving a grant to help purchase new hospitality and catering equipment.
Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP said Beenleigh State High School received a $5000 grant under Round 3 of the Stronger Communities Programme.
“The $5000 grant was matched by the school and has been used to purchase hospitality and catering equipment which has allowed the school to expand on their catering opportunities,” Mr van Manen said.
“The school’s catering program is so successful five students will be heading to Changzhou, China this year for 12 days of work experience at Marco Polo Hotels.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity and wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated teachers and principal who have worked with these students to support their skills development.”
The Stronger Communities grant is part of the Coalition Government’s $45 million Stronger Communities Programme.
The programme has delivered $150,000 per year over the past two years to Forde (2015-2016) and was expanded to 2017-18 after the positive feedback from communities across the country.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability,” Mr van Manen said.
