Forde is an electorate that has changed significantly since the 2007 election as a result of the redistribution in Queensland in 2009.

Located halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, covering an area of 419 square kilometres from Shailer Park in the North to Upper Coomera and Wongawallan in the South, Carbrook in the East then to Boronia Heights in the West. The seat was named after Michael Francis Forde who served as Prime Minister for 8 days in July 1945. The seat was created in 1984.

Forde is one of the fastest growing electorates in Australia, including developments such as Woodlands at Waterford West; Vale at Holmview; Highland Reserve and Coomera Retreat at Upper Coomera; Alberi Park at Holmview; sub developments within Tallagandra Trees at Beenleigh and several others e.g. the Master Plan for rural, park residential and rural residential uses in Park Ridge, all of which add to the growth that helps provide our dynamic community environment.

Our primary industries are retail, commercial and industrial. Some of our existing attractions and infrastructure include; a number of wonderful wetlands, parklands and historical villages, the Logan Hospital, Logan TAFE, Griffith University, shopping precincts, sporting facilities and showgrounds.
