Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen is encouraging clubs, schools, workplaces and businesses in Forde to hold an event to mark the 25th anniversary of International Day of People with Disability on December 3.
Mr van Manen said thousands of events had been held across Australia since International Day of People with Disability was first observed on 3 December 1992.
“I want to encourage individuals and community groups in the Forde area to challenge their perceptions and to promote a more inclusive Australia,” Mr van Manen said.
“Whether it is holding an awareness day at your local school, or hosting a morning tea at your workplace, this is your chance to help break down barriers for the 4.3 million Australians living with disability.
“The International Day of People with Disability website is a great place to start for event ideas and resources to help plan your event.”
Register your event by visiting www.idpwd.com.au or calling 1800 440 385.
