Thank You – Local Newsletter Article October 2013
I feel extremely honoured to have been given the opportunity to represent you in the seat of Forde for another term and I would like to thank you for giving me this important responsibility.
Over the past three years I have been listening to your issues and concerns and during my first term, more than 16 then Shadow Ministers from the Coalition visited Forde at my request to witness our local issues first hand.
During the recent election campaign, I pledged under a Coalition Government to deliver $3 million in funding for the redevelopment of the Beenleigh Town Centre and almost $1 million in funding for additional CCTV cameras in Shailer Park, Waterford West, Beenleigh and Loganlea.
I was also successful in securing two $10,000 grants for the local SES to upgrade items including radios and GPS units to ensure their continued support in our community.
In the south of the electorate, I secured funding from the Coalition’s Direct Action Plan for a dedicated Green Army to rehabilitate the Pimpama River banks with local community organisations: Twin Rivers Centre, North-East Albert Landcare & Catchment Management Group and Holcim.
I will continue to fight for funding to upgrade the M1 from Loganholme to Daisy Hill as well as a number of overpasses with excessive congestion during peak hours such as exit 54 in Coomera.
I recognise there are a number of improvements we can make in our community and if you have any other issues or concerns please get in contact with me so I can represent you in the Federal Parliament.
I look forward to working with you and representing you in our local community for another three years.
Regards,
Bert
