An ad campaign won’t mask the reality of Labor’s toxic carbon tax
On Tuesday, Labor confirmed its betrayal of the Australian people and will now try to sell their new carbon tax. They intend to embarked upon a tax payer funded advertising campaign that is to cost millions.
This tax is based on a lie from the Prime Minister who stood before the Australian people, on national television, in the printed media and stated ‘there will be no carbon tax under the Government I lead‘
In light of that promise, yesterday was an extremely sad day for Australia when the Senate passed the legislation to come into effect on 1 July 2012.
Bert van Manen said ‘the prospect that any one nation can single-handedly change the global temperature is absurd.’
‘This is a broad based consumption tax and is an attack on every household. It will drive up the cost of living for everyone, lower productivity and employment. For families in the Forde community this will mean that they will be paying more for everything – from buying groceries to essential services. The Labor’s so-called compensation isn’t going to go anywhere near helping struggling families’
‘Our manufacturing industry in Forde is already struggling under Labor’s economic mismanagement. Manufacturing is an important industry in our community and accounts for around 15% of total employment. It is important that we support local industry and ensure their long term viability together with continued high levels of employment.
Bert van Manen has promised the Forde community that ‘The Coalition is committed to taking direct action and reducing emissions by 5% by 2020 but it won’t be done through heavy taxes.’
‘The Prime Minister should now call an election and let the people of Australia decide whether they want this tax or not’
