Shailer Park State High School’s performing arts students will be able to stay cool thanks to the Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP said the school received a grant of $5525 under Round 3 of the Stronger Communities Programme.
“Shailer Park high’s P&C team did a great job applying for this grant, which was matched dollar for dollar to install four air conditioning units,” Mr van Manen said.
“The air conditioning units have been installed in the school’s performance room which can get quite muggy in the middle of summer and often has to house a large number of students.”
The Stronger Communities grant is part of the Coalition Government’s $45 million Stronger Communities Programme.
The programme has delivered $150,000 per year over the past two years to Forde (2015-2016) and was expanded to 2017-18 after the positive feedback from communities across the country.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability,” Mr van Manen said.
