The Coalition Government is delivering on its election commitments in Forde with the expansion of the Logan Safety Camera Program under the Safer Communities Fund.
The Safer Communities Fund is a grassroots level grant programme to assist local communities address crime and anti-social behaviour and support crime prevention initiatives to keep our streets and communities safe.
Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP said during the election he announced a further $525,000 to expand the Logan Safety Camera program network, and today he was delivering on that election commitment.
“As we all know, CCTV and security infrastructure has been a pivotal factor in both solving crimes and preventing crimes,” Mr van Manen said.
“The expansion of the Logan Safety Camera program will see the installation of seven new CCTV cameras placed at strategic locations throughout the electorate, as well as the purchasing and fit out of a new mobile safety camera vehicle.
“The new cameras and vehicle will all connect to the Logan Safety Camera program monitoring room, enabling them to be monitored 24/7.”
Mr van Manen said the Logan Safety Camera program was an important element for improving community safety as well as crime prevention, with CCTV cameras deterring crime and addressing crime and safety issues.
“The cameras are important tool towards improving the feeling of community safety, and also assisting police in their daily operations.”
