Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP has announced a re-elected Turnbull Government will provide $350,000 funding for a new clubhouse for Logan Lightning FC.
Mr van Manen said he was excited to announce this funding commitment to upgrade the clubhouse at Shailer Park, which the not-for-profit organisation had outgrown for some time now.
“I’m passionate about supporting local sporting clubs,” Mr van Manen said.
“Sporting clubs play a tremendous role in shaping our community and providing a place where people come together to share a common passion.
“Logan Lightning FC is part of the heart and soul of Logan’s sporting community and as our region continues to grow, our community facilities need to grow with them, which is why I am thrilled to announce $350,000 to upgrade the football club’s clubhouse.”
Logan Lightning FC President Fred Waters said the new clubhouse would mean a lot to the local community, with more than 900 players making up the club’s 75 teams.
“Bert is a great supporter of our local club and we often see him drop in to home games on the weekend,” Mr Waters said.
“We are thrilled Bert has supported our goal of a clubhouse upgrade to cater to our growing membership.”
Mr van Manen said sporting clubs are the heart and soul of a local community.
“They are places where people come together in support of their family, friends and neighbours to cheer on some friendly competition,” Mr van Manen said.
