Beenleigh PCYC will be upgrading their kitchen thanks to a $15,000 Stronger Communities grant from the Australian Government.
Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP said the kitchen was not only used to cater for functions, but used in a number of programs designed to help young people in the community.
“Sergeant Mark Haestier and his team of staff and volunteers do a tremendous job running a number of activities and programs for all ages and abilities,” Mr van Manen said.
“The PCYC kitchen is a fantastic facility that is used by a number of PCYC programs, and helps teach many young people vital life skills.”
Mr van Manen said the Beenleigh PCYC had been delivering fun, safe and healthy sport and recreation activities since 1978.
“Beenleigh PCYC is a place where kids can grow and be supported,” Mr van Manen said.
“They’re very deserving recipients of the Stronger Communities grant and I know the $15,000 will go a long way towards supporting the wider community.”
Mr van Manen said the Australian Government was providing $45 million over two years through the Stronger Communities Programme to fund small capital projects in local communities.
“This programme will deliver $150,000 per year for two years to my electorate of Forde,” Mr van Manen said.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability.”
