Students at Windaroo Valley State High School will be travelling in style with a new bus on the way thanks to a $17,300 Australian Government grant.
Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP said Windaroo Valley High P&C Association had been successfully awarded the grant through the Turnbull Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
“P&C President Belinda McDonald did a tremendous job putting forward the funding application for a new bus,” Mr van Manen said.
“It will ultimately save the school thousands of dollars commuting students to various programs and events with their own bus, having previously had to hire other busses or taxis.”
Mr van Manen said the P&C, teachers and student leaders were all very excited about the funding grant being approved.
“Other schools around the region have had their own bus for a long time so it’s great Windaroo high is now able to get on board with their own.”
Mr van Manen said the Australian Government was providing $45 million over two years through the Stronger Communities Programme to fund small capital projects in local communities.
“This programme will deliver $150,000 per year for two years to my electorate of Forde,” Mr van Manen said.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability.”
