The chequebook at Twin Rivers Community Care in Eagleby is looking healthier thanks to a $15,000 boost from the Federal Government, as part of the Solar Communities Program.
The organisation will put the funding towards the cost of installing rooftop solar photovoltaic panels.
Member for Forde Bert van Manen said the funding would allow the organisation to concentrate its funds and its energies on providing for the community.
“Twin Rivers Community Care provides invaluable services to the local community,” Mr van Manen said.
“We are committed to helping our organisations go solar, reduce their power bills and emissions and take advantage of cutting edge battery storage technology.
“This is a great initiative that will save these important community groups money and allow them to continue to serve our local community.”
Twin Rivers Community Care Senior Leader Reuben Roos thanked Mr van Manen for the support.
“This is amazing to us, this means so much,” he said.
“It will help reduce outr electricity costs.
“This will make a huge difference and we are so thankful that we have support.”
The Solar Communities Program is one of the Coalition’s 2016 election commitments, providing $5 million to selected regions across Australia.
