The Mount Lindesay Highway, inland rail and Stronger Communities Grants were at the top of the agenda when the Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government Dr John McVeigh joined Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP on a tour around the electorate’s western suburbs today.
Mr van Manen said Minister McVeigh shared the Deputy Prime Minister’s Infrastructure and Transport Portfolio and highlighting the safety needs of the Mount Lindesay Highway was his first order of business.
“The Turnbull Coalition Government has delivered $16 million towards safety improvements on the Mount Lindesay Highway which will provide a much needed upgrade to the Greenbank Road intersection and safer access to St Aldwyn Road,” Mr van Manen said.
“However, with the population boom from Logan’s western suburbs, more needs to be done and I know the Minister will take this feedback back to the Deputy Prime Minister.”
Mr van Manen said he also showed Minister McVeigh the inland rail which borders his electorate of Forde, and visited one of the recipients of the Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Grants program.
“Park Ridge Baptist Church received a $6743 grant for a Community Connect Centre fitout, which is located in the Park Ridge Shopping Centre,” Mr van Manen.
“It was a great opportunity for the Minister to see the results of just one of many local grants and how it benefits the wider Park Ridge community.”
