Six Months in Government – Letter to the Editor
In what feels like a blink, we are already six months away from the federal election. We hit the ground running and the foundations have been laid to ensure we are in the best place possible to get this great nation back on track.
When I am out doorknocking, speaking to workers and business operators in our community, I am hearing positive news about the restoration of confidence in our government.
I am also getting feedback on a number of local issues such as congestion on the M1, poor internet service, local crime and job security.
As your local voice in Canberra, I continue to campaign on your local issues in the Parliament. I have recently met with the Prime Minister, Tony Abbott MHR, the Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss MP, the Minister for Communications, Malcolm Turnbull MP and the Minister for Justice, Michael Keenan MP regarding the biggest issues in Forde.
On my return to Canberra next week we will be holding the first ever Parliamentary Repeal Day. Thousands of pages of red tape will be erased – making life easier for local schools, hospitals, community groups and small business.
There is still much to be done and I am determined to see Australia prosper, so that we can enjoy more jobs and opportunities for our local community.
Your feedback is important to me and I invite anyone with any issues or concerns to make contact with my office 4/96 George Street, Beenleigh QLD 4207 or 07 3807 6340 or email bert.vanmanen.mp@aph.gov.au
