Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP is urging local communities to recognise the valuable and tireless work of Australia’s State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers by wearing orange on Wednesday 12 November 2014.
“The focus of Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) is to encourage the community to show their support by wearing orange, the official colour of the SES uniform, van Manen said.”
“Each year our 40,000 SES Volunteers provide approximately a million hours of their time to help communities in times of natural disasters and emergencies.”
Across Australia the community can show their support for SES volunteers by wearing orange, decorating local buildings or landmarks with orange or even using orange on their social media profile.
“I’ll be encouraging my office to wear orange this Wednesday in recognition for the SES and their ongoing work and dedication to keeping our community safe,” van Manen said.
Bert van Manen MP secured $20,000 in funding for the Beenleigh SES and Logan West SES in the 2014-15 Budget.
