An upgrade to the Boronia Heights State School oval is a step closer thanks to a $5000 Stronger Communities Grant.
Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP said the school oval terraces are in need of an upgrade and the P&C was raising funds for the $60,000 project.
“I was very pleased to be able to contribute $5000 towards the project through the Stronger Communities Programme and I thank the P&C for doing a great job with the application process,” Mr van Manen said.
“The Boronia Heights State School P&C will be running a number of fundraisers throughout the year to reach the figure they need to upgrade the oval terraces.
“I encourage the community to keep an eye out and support their upcoming events.”
The Stronger Communities grant is part of the Coalition Government’s $45 million Stronger Communities Programme.
The programme has delivered $150,000 per year over the past two years to Forde (2015-2016) and was expanded to 2017-18 after the positive feedback from communities across the country.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability,” Mr van Manen said.
