Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP has announced a re-elected Turnbull Government will provide $100,000 funding for new lighting at the Ormeau Bulldogs AFL fields.
Mr van Manen said the club was currently restricted to training and playing in daylight hours only, and the new lighting would create more opportunities for players and families to get involved in the club.
“So many clubs hold training sessions and games at night because mum and dad can’t always make it home before the sun goes down, especially in winter,” Mr van Manen said.
“I am so very pleased to be able to support Ormeau Bulldogs with $100,000 to install lighting at the grounds, which will enable them to hold night time training sessions, as well as games.”
Mr van Manen said sporting clubs are the heart and soul of local communities, and the Oremau area was welcoming new families to the region every day.
“The club is located in one of the fastest growing residential corridors in south east Queensland,” Mr van Manen said.
“We need the facilities to keep up with the needs of the community, and I am very excited to provide this much needed funding to the local AFL grounds.”
