Bert recently held a ceremony to recognise the contribution and commitment to our nation’s security by two local ex-servicemen living in the Forde community.
Barrie John Hill and David William Rathbone both received the Australian Defence Medal during a presentation at the Beenleigh RSL.
The Australian Defence Medal is awarded to Regular and Reserve Force members who have completed their initial enlistment period of four years service.
Many people serve their country and do so with conviction and devotion and whether they are serving in an operational area or not. These medals seek to recognise the contributions by all servicemen and women.
If you have served a minimum period of four years you may be eligible to receive this award.
