Beenleigh Little Athletics has been awarded a grant of $5014 under the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP said Beenleigh Little Athletics were a fantastic local organisation and very deserving of this grant.
“I caught up with the kids and parents who do a great job running the athletics club and they were just thrilled to receive this grant,” Mr van Manen said.
“The funding will be used to upgrade the athletic equipment as well as some of the field apparatus at Oliver’s Sporting Complex in Eagleby.
“The kids are currently training for their upcoming cross country carnival, so it’s a good time to upgrade their athletic equipment ahead of training.”
Mr van Manen said the Australian Government was providing $45 million over two years through the Stronger Communities Programme to fund small capital projects in local communities.
“This programme will deliver $150,000 per year for two years to my electorate of Forde,” Mr van Manen said.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability.”
