St Mary’s Parish at Upper Coomera has receives a $5775 grant under Round 1 of the Australian Government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP said the funding would be used for the installation of solar power.
“The solar power project will benefit St Mary’s Parish and the neighbouring child care centre, with lower electricity costs,” Mr van Manen said.
“With the cost of electricity on the rise, being able to offset the use with solar panels is a fantastic initiative by St Mary’s Parish.”
Mr van Manen said the Australian Government was providing $45 million over two years through the Stronger Communities Programme to fund small capital projects in local communities.
“This programme will deliver $150,000 per year for two years to my electorate of Forde,” Mr van Manen said.
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability.”
