Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen has today welcomed the start of the Australian Government’s new employment service – jobactive.
“jobactive is the Government’s new $6.8 billion employment service which will help more job seekers in our region to find and keep a job,” Mr van Manen said.
“Through jobactive, local job seekers can receive help to prepare a resume, look for work, prepare for interviews and undertake training and work experience that will improve their chances of finding a job.”
Mr van Manen said local employers would also benefit from the new jobactive system, especially through the new $1.2 billion wage subsidy pool.
“As part of the recent Budget, the Government has made the wage subsidy arrangements more flexible.
“Employers will be able to receive a wage subsidy from the day an eligible job seeker starts in a job and can be paid on a fortnightly basis.
“This will help employers with the upfront costs of hiring and training new staff and encourage more employers to think about taking on a local job seeker.”
Mr van Manen also welcomed the roll out of Work for the Dole in the region.
“Work for the Dole helps job seekers to gain new skills and remain active and engaged while looking for work,” Mr van Manen said.
“Local community organisations also benefit from the help provided through Work for the Dole, which allows them to undertake additional activities and projects of benefit to the broader community.”
Mr van Manen said jobactive services would be delivered by a number of organisations in our region including Max Employment.
“jobactive delivers on the Government’s commitment to reform employment services for the benefit of job seekers and employers alike.
“I look forward to working with the new jobactive providers in our region to help connect local job seekers and employers.”
