The Australian Government’s National Cities Performance Framework is the first official framework to track the progress and performance of Australia’s largest cities.
Assistant Minister for Cities and Digital Transformation Angus Taylor said the Framework brings together critical data on key issues such as infrastructure, housing and liveability in an easily accessible online dashboard.
“The Performance Framework ensures all levels of government, industry and the community have access to critical economic, social and trend data to inform cities policy and investment decisions,” Assistant Minister Taylor said.
“The Performance Framework is about encouraging individual cities to improve outcomes. Because if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.”
Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen welcomed the new Framework as a critical tool to ensure decisions on the future of Australian cities are well informed and evidence-based.
“The Performance Framework gives us a clear picture of how the Gold Coast region is performing,” Mr van Manen said.
“It tells us what we’re doing well now and what we need to look into for the future.”
The Performance Framework is a living resource the Australian Government will improve over time to ensure its performance indicators remain robust and relevant to our modern cities.
