With flu season coming up, it’s important to protect ourselves with the annual flu vaccination. Thanks to Howie at Priceline Pharmacy in Park Ridge who provided my flu vaccination today!
Vaccinating against flu is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over. The best timing for vaccination is from April to provide protection before the peak season takes place (from June to September, with peak in August).
The following groups of people are eligible for free vaccinations:
- all children from 6 months to less than 5 years of age
- all adults aged 65 years and older
- pregnant women
- all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
- individuals aged 6 months and older with medical conditions which increase the risk of influenza disease complications (for a full list go to NCIRS Influenza Vaccines Fact Sheet).
Your local community pharmacy and GP clinics are able to provide you with a flu vaccine. Visit www.findapharmacy.com.au/qldflu to find your local community pharmacy providing vaccination services and sign up for updates.
