The Turnbull Government’s Stronger Communities Program is driving improvements across the region with Park Ridge Pirates AFL Club the latest organisation to be awarded a grant.
Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen MP said Park Ridge Pirates had received $18,562 under Round 2 of the Stronger Communities Program.
“This funding will be used by the club to purchase a new mower and help manage the maintenance of their fields,” Mr van Manen said.
“It can take volunteers more than six hours a week to keep the grass under control, and even longer during summer when we have more rain and the grass grows quickly.”
Mr van Manen said the Park Ridge Pirates was established in 2008, and have won four premierships in their past eight seasons.
“This new mower will help the club maintain the fields, which back on to Park Ridge State High School,” Mr van Manen said.
“The club has a great reputation for their quality fields, and this funding will help them uphold the great standard visiting teams have come to expect when they play at Park Ridge.”
The Stronger Communities grant is part of the Coalition Government’s $45 million Stronger Communities Program.
The program has delivered $150,000 per year over the past two years to Forde (2015-2016).
“Projects awarded funding must deliver social benefits to the community and contribute to our community’s long term vibrancy and viability,” Mr van Manen said.
