Coalition gives childcare workers a voice
Bert van Manen today alerted local childcare operators and staff throughout Forde on their opportunity to comment on the Gillard Government’s short term pay rise plan for less than one in three of the nation’s childcare workers.
Last week the Federal Coalition successfully referred the Early Years Quality Fund Special Account Bill 2013 to both a House of Representatives and Senate Committee for further investigation and analysis.
“This Bill will allocate a pay rise to a select few childcare workers, and has been rushed
into Parliament simply to mute union unrest on wages before the September election”, says Bert.
“It is vital all voices of this industry have the chance to be heard before Labor and the Greens pass what is essentially an act of discrimination through the Parliament.”
“There is only a limited time to make comment*, so I would urge anyone in the industry, particularly the hardworking and dedicated staff who will likely miss out on this increase, to put forward their views by the end of this week”, van Manen concluded.
