On Monday, 25th April, Bert van Manen MP, Federal Member for Forde attended ANZAC Day services in the electorate.
Mr van Manen was honoured to attend the Beenleigh RSL’s Dawn Service and congratulates them on over 3,000 attendees at the event.
Pimpama/Ormeau and the North Gold Coast RSL sub-branch ceremonies were also attended by the Federal Member whom paid his respects to the nation’s fallen heroes.
Mr van Manen gave a speech at the North Gold Coast RSL ceremony, held at Upper Coomera, sharing the spirit of the ANZAC and what it means to the community.
“They (The ANZACs) all understood the values of independence, freedom and fairness and-above all- possessed a willingness to defend these things if need be.
“Because freedom only survives as long as people are willing to defend it.
“That is the spirit ANZAC handed down to us.
“If we lose that ANZAC spirit, we lose all,” Mr van Manen stated.
Mr van Manen will continue to attend events such as these which respect and remember the fallen of our nation.
