An Evening with Greg Hunt MP
Tonight, Bert van Manen MP invited Shadow Minister for Climate Action, Environment and Heritage, Greg Hunt MP to meet with members of the Forde community.
Mr van Manen and Mr Hunt were eager to hear from the local residents regarding climate change, carbon tax and environmental issues important to them.
“I feel that it is important to engage with the local community on these important issues as their voice is important,” Mr van Manen said.
Attendees enjoyed drinks and canapés with Mr Hunt and Mr van Manen, sharing their views in an open and casual environment.
“Australians sent a message to the Gillard Labor Government at the last election, but Labor is still not listening. Tonight we heard from local residents who are under pressure from increased electricity prices, grocery prices, petrol prices, unemployment and mortgage stress which will only worsen with the proposed carbon tax”, said Mr van Manen.
“The community need real action and a government that they can be assured will listen to them on the decisions that impact them, that is why I have invited Mr Hunt to Forde.”
“The night was a huge success with comments from attendees passing on their appreciation at having their voice heard.”
“I look forward to working hard for the local community in ensuring their views are heard.” Mr van Manen said.
